Fat Quarter Shop Quiltalong: Clementine Quilt

Every year Fat Quarter Shop hosts a fabulous quiltalong that benefits a specific charity. This year they have chosen St. Jude’s children’s hospital! Each month January-July there will be one block pattern in 2 sizes to complete. At the end there is a really fun way to make the setting unique. It is suggested that per pattern you use, you donate $5 to St. Jude’s by clicking this link or following the same link from one of Fat Quarter Shop’s blog postings. For the first month, we get to make Watermelon Wheel. It’s a clever block that is really simple to construct, thanks to strip piecing! For the block, head to this Fat Quarter Shop post!

Jelly Roll Rugalong

Kairle Oaks and I have had so much fun hosting the #jellyrollrugalong on Instagram. Have you been making one along with us? This was a really interesting way to use a jelly roll and some batting. We have broken it down into a few chunks to make it more manageable to assemble (it all makes sense if you have the pattern):

1- Make your loooooong jelly roll

2- Make your jelly roll rope strip and get it wrapped up into a ball

3- Get your rug assembled!

A big thanks to Moda Fabrics for giving us some jelly rolls for a fun giveaway (which has ended). If you have any questions about assembly methodology or anything else, please direct them directly to the pattern maker, Roma. You can find her on instagram @romaquilts.

Have you finished up your rug? I’d love to see it! Tag me @heritage.threads on instagram and use the sewalong hashtag #jellyrollrugalong so everyone else can see as well!
