Eccentric Star

Today’s #jensfillerblocks is a great block that falls under the family of a Friendship Star. I love how this one looks almost like a Friendship/Ninja Star, and yet it’s so different. Adding the half-square triangles (HSTs) in the corners really changes the look of the block.

White:

(4) 3″ x 3″ squares

Center:

(1) 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ square

Print:

(4) 3″ x 3″ squares

Mark a line down the center of your white 3″ x 3″ squares. Place your white and print 3″ x 3″ squares with right sides together. Sew 1/4″ on both sides of the center line on each square. Cut down the center line and press your 8 HSTs. Trim to 2-1/2″, if necessary. Arrange your remaining pieces as shown, sew together into rows, then into your finished Eccentric Star block.
